Fuzhou weaves a food safety net for residents

Fuzhou, capital city of Southeast China's Fujian province is set to put more efforts towards improving food safety across the city, according to a recently released government work plan.

According to the plan, local authorities is to set up a food traceability system by the end of the year; so that all stages in the food supply chain in the city can be tracked. The system will cover food production, processing, packaging, delivery and sales.

Meanwhile, the city will also strengthen its supervision and management on catering sectors. It plans to build over 10,000 open kitchen restaurants by 2020.

In addition, Fuzhou will step up investment in the kitchen waste's hazard-free treatment and recycling in the coming years. The plan reveals that by 2020, the disposal ratio of the kitchen garbage in the city is targeted at over 80 percent.
