The first Digital China Summit will be held in Fuzhou of southeastern China's Fujian province from Apr 22 to 24, as part of China's larger efforts to further integrate the digital economy with the real economy.

Pingtan, an island city located off the coast of Fujian, has confirmed its participation and is set to display its latest achievements on e-government and digital economy.

China is pressing ahead with the building of "e-government", that is, promoting the administrative reform and increasing government service efficiency via the application of cutting-edge electronic techs.

In Pingtan, an online administrative management network, an enabler for interdepartmental resource sharing, has initially been set up. As a result of that, local residents could access various services offered by the government through "one window".

Meanwhile, the city is also bracing for a burgeoning digital economy. Its proposal of building Pingtan into a digitalized hub has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission earlier this year. Presently, the projects like the Belt and Road visual big data system have begun construction in the city.

In addition to the exhibition, a main forum and several sub-forums are planned during the event covering topics related to e-government, digital economy, smart society, new smart cities, big data, digital Fujian, the digital Maritime Silk Road and the internet of things.

The summit, to be firstly held, is jointly sponsored by the Cyberspace Administration of China, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Fujian provincial government.
