Xiamen welcomes Hong Kong business people from construction and service industries who seek cooperation with local enterprises and to be part of the city's construction, Li Yuehui, Xiamen's vice mayor, said on March 27 during a meeting with a Hong Kong delegation.

Li introduced Xiamen's economic development, business environment and its opening up to the outside world.

He said that Xiamen has always stuck to the development orientation of high quality and attractive appearance and the city now plays an important role in China's Belt and Road Initiative, which creates a valuable opportunity for Xiamen's urban construction.

Wu Ziheng, general representative of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in the Chinese mainland, and the representatives of Hong Kong businessmen agreed that remarkable achievements have been made by Xiamen in the construction of new-type urbanization.

They are positive about the coastal city's development prospects and willing to strengthen cooperation with Xiamen.

The Hong Kong delegation consisted of representatives from more than ten local enterprises involving urban planning and architectural design, rail traffic, environmental improvement, the elder and health care industries, and tourism.

They also visited projects under construction during their visit to Xiamen, such as Maluanwan new town and Jimei new town and expressed their willingness to be part of the construction.
