Fuzhou beefs up efforts in advancing links with Taiwan

Fuzhou, capital of East China's Fujian province, recently, rolled out 68 measures favoring the Taiwan businesses and people in the city amid its efforts to promote the ties with the island located off the east coast of the province.

According to a government notice released on Aug 12, newly established Taiwan-funded businesses with an investment of over $5 million in Fuzhou shall be entitled to an award offered by local government. Capped at 10 million yuan ($1.45 million), the award is set to account for 1.5 percent of their actual investment.

Also Taiwan startups in the city will be beneficiaries. They will be exempted from office rents for half a year and entitled to government subsidies ranging from 800,000 to 2,000,000 yuan if the necessary qualifications are met.

Meanwhile, Fuzhou will also provide Taiwan people with treatment equal to that of their mainland compatriots in employment, studying and living in the city, the notice says.

Taiwan people with the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents shall be granted with same rights as local residents in social security and will be able to apply for housing loans, university scholarships as well as the honorary titles conferred by local government, it says.
