Fujian province was ranked 8th nationwide in terms of comprehensive economic competiveness in 2017, according to a report released in Beijing on April 11.
The report, compiled by the School of Economics of Fujian Normal University, is comprised of such indicators as the macro economy, industrial economy and sustainable development,finance and knowledge economy.
South China's Guangdong province topped the list, followed by Jiangsu, Shanghai, Beijing, Zhejiang, Shandong, Tianjin, Fujian, Chongqing and Henan.
Fujian remained the same in ranking as in the previous year while Guangdong edged past Jiangsu to secure the first place.
The report also provided in-depth analysis of the country's high quality development pattern against the background of rising trade protectionism.
According to Huang Maoxing, dean of the School of Economics of Fujian Normal University and compiler of the report, the report takes various factors of a socialist market economy into account and is a complete evaluation system using most indicators in China.
