The 15th Strait Travel Fair & fifth China International Leisure Travel Expo concluded in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province on April 21.

The two fairs featured a combined exhibition area of 60,000 square meters, with 2,600 booths this year, representing increases of 10,000 and 400 year-on-year respectively.

Notably, the booths for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan rose to 150 from 110 recorded last year.

According to the organizers, roughly 226,000 visitors from 47 countries and regions across the world participated in the two events.

Nearly 20,000 travel agents including over 1,000 buyers attended the fairs, reaching contracts valued at 85 million yuan ($12.6 million).

Meanwhile, the sales volume reached onsite stood at about 100 million yuan, an uptick of 40 percent over last year.

A tourism festival promoting three tourism destinations of Xiamen in Fujian, Kinmen and Peng-hu of Taiwan were also inaugurated on its sidelines.
