The second China Bamboo Industry Summit Forum opened in Jian'ou, a city in north Fujian on May 20.
The three-day event aims to promote the bamboo industry in Jian'ou to develop in a green, high-quality manner and strengthen its brand building.
Jian'ou has made strides in the bamboo industry in recent years. Statistics show that the output of the industry in the city has been as high as 13.14 billion yuan ($1.96 bilion) in 2018.
There are roughly 300,000 people involved in the bamboo industry, with per capita annual revenue of 6,725 yuan, accounting for 39 percent of farmers' disposable annual income.
The forum, with more than 600 business leaders, scholars and experts in the bamboo industry, is set to inject new impetus into the sector.
Jian'ou is a renowned as a historical and cultural city with a history of over 3,000 years. Its congenial climate and fertile soil has long made it a treasured place for producing agro-products including rice, tea, edible mushrooms, tangerines and bamboo shoots.
