Yu Weiguo, Party chief of Fujian and Governor Tang Dengjie met a visiting delegation of the Fujian Association of Societies in Hong Kong on May 22.
Yu confirmed the contributions made by the association and Hong Kong residents who are of Fujian origin in promoting exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Hong Kong, and maintaining the prosperity and stability of the SAR.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of new China, he said, expressing the hope that the association will continue to uphold the principle of unity and make greater contributions to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the nation, the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, as well as the development of Fujian in a new era.
The Party chief pledged that the province will focus on creating a good business environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship and promoting a new round of high levels of reform and opening-up so as to create congenial conditions for investment from Hong Kong.
Before heading for Fujian, the delegation visited Beijing.
Wu Huanyan, chairman of the Fujian association of societies in Hong Kong, said that it was a great pleasure for the delegation to visit Beijing, which was highly recognized by the central leadership and warmly welcomed by people from hometown (Fujian).
He, along with Wu Lianghao, honorary chairman of the association, vowed that the association will firmly support the SAR government in governing Hong Kong in accordance with the law, actively participate in the construction of a new Fujian, and push forward the cause of "One Country, Two Systems".
