UNIDO representatives visit Pingtan

Mr. Edward Clarence-Smith, representative and director of the UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) field office in China and Liang Dan, the organization's senior technology consultant in Xiamen, visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone on Sept 8 to discuss international cooperation possibilities in the zone.
Gong Qingai, director of the pilot zone, introduced Pingtan as an environmentally friendly and well-coordinated new economic development zone. The island county is learning from advanced international experiences and looking forward to more international cooperation and investments.
Clarence-Smith said that Pingtan's inspiring achievements showed its foresight and advanced development vision in fields such as green economy. He noted UNIDO would like to introduce green technologies and new development concepts to the county.
UNIDO was founded in 1966; it cooperates with more than 170 member countries to provide sustainable development solutions for developing countries. The organization plans to establish the Fujian Green Industry Development Center in Pingtan.
