Chung-Shu Wu, director of the Chung Hua Institution for Economic Research (Taiwan WTO Center) and chairman of the board of directors of the Chung-Hua Association for Financial and Economic Strategies, visited Pingtan with delegates from Taiwan companies. Officials from Pingtan's administrative committee received the delegation.
The two organizations are important think tanks in Taiwan dedicated to cross-Straits development and cooperation. This is the second time Wu visited to Pingtan. He said Pingtan has become a hotspot among Taiwan companies. Businessmen in Taiwan pay close attention to the county's economic development. They see Pingtan as a place full of commercial opportunities.
Pingtan is expected to release more information about its preferential investment policies, industrial plans, and taxation measures to Taiwan-invested companies.
Wu also noted that many Taiwan companies hope to enter the bigger mainland market through Pingtan. The island county boasts many business advantages, including Taiwan-oriented policies and low logistics and taxation costs. A common homeland for both Taiwan and Pingtan will benefit people across the Straits. Wu expects a better future for both sides as Pingtan continues to open-up to Taiwan.
