A private museum which is set to be the largest of its kind in Asia, involving investment totaling 800-million-yuan ($131 million), and an area of 40,000 square meters, is under construction in Pingtan, southeast China's Fujian.

The museum, invested by the Chang Fu Group - a private enterprise whose business covers art collection, mining investment, real estate development and other industries - will showcase thousands of cultural relics.

The museum is expected to be completed in 2015 and will open to the public the following year.

The Chang Fu Group is holding a six-day exhibition of cultural relics in Pingtan until May 31, and the items on display are all precious antiques, including a HK$-6.338-million imperial jade seal used by the Qianlong Emperor during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
