The first China Pingtan International Sculpture Festival will kick off in October, and the organizing committee plans to solicit 35 sculptures out of 100 applications from sculptor artists from home and abroad.

Their creations are expected to be displayed at Haiyu Square at the Longfengtou Bathing Beach or at Zhuyu Lake Park.

The theme for the festival is "harmony, progress and dreams", and the artists from around the world will create sculptures that reflect contemporary art trends and international cooperation. The event is expected to enhance Pingtan's image and also to boost cross-Straits communications.
