The Fujian provincial government is considering introducing a guide price on driving classes in the province, sources from the Fujian Provincial Pricing Administration said on Thursday.

The bureau said it has drafted relative regulations that set fee standards for different cities and are awaiting approval from government authorities.

The enrollment fee of driving schools in Fujian has witnessed a sharp increase in recent years. In Fuzhou city, capital of the province, and Quanzhou city the charge has skyrocketed from less than 2,800 yuan ($456) in 2008 to 4,000 yuan in 2011. The price reached roughly 8,000 yuan this year, even higher than Xiamen city and many other top-tier cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The pricing administration said they are conducting an investigation on driving school costs in different cities in the province and will make fair guide prices based on local supply and demand situations, economic levels and social affordability.
