The Pingtan traffic management bureau recently launched an account on WeChat - one of China's most popular online chatting services – and it is helping Taiwan compatriots who are in Pingtan for business, as a total of 27 Taiwan residents who are working in Pingtan are following the bureau's account.
The most common questions asked by the Taiwan followers mainly concern how to get a temporary driving license in Pingtan, how to go through the annual vehicle check-up and the differences between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan traffic rules.
The traffic bureau, which attracted more than 2,000 followers one month after opening its WeChat account, strives to respond to all questions from the public - and the bureau has received much praise.
"The 'dialogue on the fingertips' platform provide a convenient and fast way to get the traffic information," according to a WeChat user with an ID of 1980Chen, who is from Taiwan.
The authorities have also pledged to open more services on this WeChat account, including mediation of traffic accident disputes and online appointments for annual vehicle check-ups.
