A fire broke out at a restaurant in downtown Pingtan on Wednesday, causing damage inside the premises but no casualties, the Pingtan Times reported.

The fire started at around 12:10 at noon in the kitchen of a fish restaurant between Xihang Road and Longfeng Road. One employee said that it spread so fast that he and his colleagues could not do anything to contain it, but instead focused on making sure that all those present managed to leave the building.

The local fire brigade arrived at the site within 20 minutes, and the blaze was extinguished at 1:50 pm.
