Entrepreneurs and calligraphy masters attended an auction and exhibition of calligraphy works in Pingtan county, east China's Fujian province, on Jan 25, which raised about 400,000 yuan ($66,120) for local students who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Dozens of calligraphy masters and charitable entrepreneurs attend the annual event that featured nearly 100 calligraphies with various styles and 50 delicately carved shells.

Twenty calligraphy works were sold at the auction, including Fuzhou Poe by Yu Duanzhao, which sold for 390,000 yuan.

The money from the auction will all go to local charity work, especially those students who can not afford tuition fees, according to organizers.

The exhibits are also set to be displayed during a calligraphy fair which will end on Feb 8. Those who make any purchase will get a certificate of honor in return, said organizers.
