The Taiwan International Ports Corp Ltd is optimistic about prospects for cooperation with the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) on logistics and the construction of harbors and wharfs.
Xiao Dingxun, president of the company, said he would pay an inspection visit to Pingtan, China's first pilot zone opening up to Taiwan, on Feb 24.
Li Dejin, director of PCPZ's administrative committee, briefed the guests on the development of Pingtan over the past three years, saying it had made progress in its infrastructure construction.
Li highlighted the launch of Haixia, a high-speed passenger ferry sailing between Pingtan, Taichung and Taipei, and the construction of "Pingtan Closure" which refers to an integrated customs supervision and management system. He also revealed that Pingtan has landed a slew of projects with investment exceeding 110 billion yuan ($17.9 billion).
The Taiwan International Ports Co is expected to extend cooperation with Pingtan, especially on logistics and the construction of harbors and wharfs, said Xiao.
