Li and other Pingtan delegates were on a promotional visit to Taiwan seeking cooperation and seeking development opportunities. He briefed the hosts on Pingtan’s construction progress over the past few years and its favorable polices towards Taiwan’s companies.
Only 68 nautical kilometers from Hsinchu, Pingtan is the closest place on the Chinese mainland to Taiwan and has been playing an important role in cross-Straits communications, said Wu.
The two sides should seek more common ground and expand economic, cultural and personnel exchanges for mutual benefit, he added.
The development of Pingtan has brought vast opportunities for Taiwan’s entrepreneurs and hopefully companies across the Straits will increase communication and complement each other’s advantages, said Lin.
