Ophthalmologists from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan will jointly hold a free clinic for cataract patients in Pingtan county, Fujian province, on Aug 22, a local hospital announced.

The clinic, which is taking place at the Pingtan County Hospital from 2:30 – 5:30 pm, is part of a charitable cause launched by medical institutions and associations from across the Straits. The parties will also open a base for cross-Straits medical cooperation in Pingtan in the morning.

Apart from offering free medical examinations, the clinic will provide 100 cataract operations replacing the patients’ eye lens with an artificial lens for free.
