Some 3,100 students in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Fujian province have signed up for the National College Entrance Examination, or gaokao, this year, ptnet.cn reports, citing the Fujian provincial education bureau.

This year's gaokao in Fujian is slated for June 7 and 8. The exam papers are set by the province itself.

A total of 189,300 students in Fujian will take part this year. Quanzhou has the most candidates at 37,800, followed by Fuzhou (29,400), Zhangzhou (23,400), Putian (20,400), Ningde (17,400), Longyan (15,100), Nanping (14,800), Sanming (14,700), Xiamen (13,300) and Pingtan.
