The design for a campus of the Fujian Polytechnic of Information Technology in Pingtan county was released on May 30, ptnet.cn reports.

The college is the first of its kind to open a branch campus in Pingtan.

The Pingtan campus will be divided into three zones of teaching, life and recreation/sports, according to an official with a Shanghai-based design and research institute.

The campus is situated in Zhonglou township and covers an area of 800 mu (53 hectares).Construction is scheduled to take less than two years with an investment of 1 billion yuan ($161 million).

It plans to enroll 10,000 full-time students and offers vocational training and adult education to around 14,000 perennially. It is also expected to carry out cooperation with counterparts in Taiwan.
