A new shop for Taiwan commodities opened on the Haixiahao, a high-speed ocean liner between Taiwan and Pingtan of Fujian province, on Aug 11, the Pingtan Times reported.

Passengers can buy authentic Taiwan products and overseas commodities such as cosmetics, cigarettes, baby milk power, tea and liquor at a lower price, according to Dong Bin, the general manager at the liner company.

"The liner was not allowed to sell Taiwan commodities until it was approved by Pingtan customs authorities early this year," Dong added.

Passengers can shop duty-free as long as the total value of goods remains below Chinese customs limitations – no more than 5,000 yuan ($790) for inbound resident passengers and 2,000 yuan for non-resident passengers.
