The gross domestic production in Pingtan county, Fujian province grew fast this year, said the local statistics bureau.

The GDP volume through the first eight months of the year reached 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion), an increase of 11.6 percent compared with the same period last year, figures show.

Pingtan’s month-on-month GDP growth leads all Fujian cities for the fourth straight month.

Primary industry saw added value of 1.8 billion yuan, up 5 percent. Secondary and tertiary industry totaled 3 billion and 5.2 billion, up 12 and 14 percent respectively.

The primary, secondary and tertiary industries respectively contributed 8, 32 and 60 percent of Pingtan’s economic growth.
