Officials with the Pingtan-Taiwan Duty-free Commodity Market, a 3A national scenic spot in Pingtan, Fujian province launched a promotion event at a local bus station on Feb 2, to introduce the market's characteristics and activities during Spring Festival.
The officials said that to give people a better understanding of the market, they handed out brochures, coupons and red packets containing money to the passengers.
In addition, the market also hosted a month-long tourism and culture festival from Jan 17 to Feb 21, to attract more people. The event included a large number of activities such as lucky draws, a lantern show, riddle guessing and a folk music concert.
The officials explained that they want to increase the influence of the market through a variety of promotion events.
Opened in June 2014, the market mainly displays and sells Taiwan specialties of food, cooking oil, meat, clothing, handicrafts and medicine. It also brings in Taiwan's flagship stores, creative cultural products, international designer brands, and tourism programs. It was rated as a 3A national scenic spot last December.
