A cross-Straits art exhibition kicked off in the Pingtan Comprehensive Zone, Fujian province, on May 7.
The event was the first of its kind in the zone and around 30 prestigious calligraphers and painters from the mainland and Taiwan took part in it.
Apart from displaying their works at the exhibition, the artists also created works on site and exchanged skills with each other.
The organizers said that they expected to build up friendship between people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits through such art exchanges. This was also considered helpful to Pingtan's goal of becoming a Common Homeland for people across the Straits.
