A delegation from the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese led by its deputy director Zheng Lizhong visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ), Fujian province on May 9.
The visit was to learn about Taiwan youth's employment and entrepreneurship in the zone.
The delegates went to the Taiwan Innovation Park and attended a meeting with local young Taiwan people who work or have start up a business there. Some representatives introduced their work conditions, difficulties they encountered, and preferential policies they enjoyed.
Zheng Lizhong, who is also vice president of the Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits, encouraged the young people to keep pursuing their dreams and contribute to cross-Straits relations.
Zheng also vowed that the committee will help Pingtan attract more young talented personnel from Taiwan to work or start up businesses there and will help reach its goal of becoming a Common Homeland for people on both sides of the Straits.
Zhang Zhaomin, secretary of PCPZ's Party working committee, said that Pingtan will make more efforts to optimize its business environment for young Taiwan people who harbor entrepreneurial dreams.
During their visit, the visitors also toured the Tannan Bay, Aoqian Taiwan Town, formerly known as Pingtan-Taiwan Duty-free Commodity Market, Haitan Ancient City and Beigang village.
