The city of Pingtan, Fujian province, recently signed an agreement with Jimei University, establishing a friendly and cooperative partnership, to make scientific advancements and improve the city's fishing industry.

According to the letter of intent for cooperation, Jimei University will utilize its resources in research, technology and talent to help Pingtan’s marine economy; while Pingtan will provide the university areas and facilities for it to carry out its research.

The agreement also covers cooperation on aquaculture, and upgrading fish farming programs and practices.
