Yang Hsiangch'i, who gained her doctorate at Tsinghua University in Taiwan, also showed great interest in the jobs in Pingtan.
"My friends told me something about Pingtan before. They said a high-profile talent could get paid as much as 600,000 yuan a year, which is much higher than Taiwan, so I came to see whether I could have such an opportunity," she said.
In a bid to draw in more Taiwan talents to the city, some Pingtan companies also invited some Taiwan employees to introduce Pingtan to their compatriots based on their own stories.
"There are a lot of job opportunities in Pingtan and the working staff [at the job fair] are all quite kind and patient," commented Lin Yiju, another job seeker from Taiwan.
"We hope to take advantage of the chance to draw in more Taiwan companies and youth to seek development on the beautiful island of Pingtan," said Zhang Tan, manager of Haixia Equity Trading Center.
