A delegation of reporters from Australian mainstream media visited Pingtan in South China's Fujian province on August 2.
In a bid to get to know the city's latest overall development status, the delegation went on field trips to Taiwan Innovation Park, the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone planning pavilion and Tannan Bay.
Pingtan's enchanting seaside views greatly impressed the visitors. Some of them even started to chat with local fishermen on the beach.
"I have never seen such a beautiful beach. The sky and architecture here is incredible for us from Australia," said Luke Malpass, a columnist of the Economic Observer.
At the seminar held later, Lei Duo, a scholar from the Institute of Australia-China Relations of Sydney's University of Technology, considered the visit to Pingtan a rewarding one, saying the delegation would help promote the city across Australia on their return.
Pingtan is only one stop on their visit to Fujian. In upcoming days they will also visit other cities in the province such as Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou to get a full picture of Fujian's social and economic development.
