Kongdong Mountain is located in the 12-km west to the Pinglaing city, in Gansu province.

The scenic area is named the natural “Kingdom of Plants and Animals” by locals due to more than 1,000 kinds of plants and 300 species of animals, and its forest coverage rate reaching 90 percent.

Visitors will never regret touring the peaks and valleys of Kongdong Mountain scenic area. The scenic area was awarded as a 5A-level scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration in 2007.

The mountain acts as a fortress on the Silk Road, an ancient trade road stretching from North China to West Asia and Europe, with its main peak stretching as high as 2,123 meters above sea level.

Kongdong Mountain is considered one of the birthplaces of Chinese martial arts culture. Along with Shaolin, Wudang, Emei and Kunlun, Kongdong Mountain can trace the origins of one of the five original Chinese martial arts styles and schools, and in 2014, the Kongdong district won the title of national "homeland of martial arts".
