Hangzhou citizens and tourists will be able to call taxis from bicycle parking lots through a new system the city government is setting up.
Currently, there are 8065 taxis in downtown Hangzhou, transporting 600,000 passengers every day.
The new system includes a GPS and several computer systems to direct empty taxis to locations where people can call taxis simply by pressing a button at a taxi stand.
By the end of this year, 100 intelligent taxi service stops will be built in downtown Hangzhou. Fifty of them will be combined with public bicycle booths, and the rest will be at tourist service centers.
