Zhejiang Energy Conservation Industry Development Co, Ltd, a subsidiary under China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation, is investing 64.6272 million yuan in the project which will be constructed by Astronergy.

The base is located in the Qianjiang Economic Development Zone, Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province in east coastal China, with a total installed capacity of 2 mW and a 9,000-sq m solar panel area. It is expected to reach a yearly power generation of 2 million kilowatt hours. The electricity will be transferred to Hangzhou's power system, which can save 8 million tons of coal equivalent and reduce carbon dioxide emission of 13.2 million tons per year.

Hangzhou plans to install a solar panel measuring 700,000 sq m by 2013, with an installed capacity of 70 mW, according to a layout released by the local government.
