The base is located in the Qianjiang Economic Development Zone, Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province in east coastal China, with a total installed capacity of 2 mW and a 9,000-sq m solar panel area. It is expected to reach a yearly power generation of 2 million kilowatt hours. The electricity will be transferred to Hangzhou's power system, which can save 8 million tons of coal equivalent and reduce carbon dioxide emission of 13.2 million tons per year.
Hangzhou plans to install a solar panel measuring 700,000 sq m by 2013, with an installed capacity of 70 mW, according to a layout released by the local government.
