Thirty 500-ml milk cartons can be made into 350 m of toilet paper; 200 cartons can be transformed into a stool; 2,000 cartons can be turned into a desk…
Yesterday, members from Green Recycle, an organization committed to raising environmental protection awareness among local citizens, gave a “magic show” to Cuiyuan 2nd Community residents in Hangzhou on how to make use of recyclable materials.
A family in an urban area may produce as many as 100 drink packages in a month and those recyclable materials are usually thrown away together with other organic garbage, according to Green Recycle, which has started a campaign to teach local citizens the importance of recycling.
Over 100 garbage bins made out of milk cartons will be placed in 10 communities in Hangzhou to collect recyclables, with volunteers collecting and recycling the materials on a regular basis.
