This summer, the number of Hangzhou citizens applying for exit-entry certificates reached a new peak.
According to incomplete statistics from late May to early July, the Exit-Entry Administrative Division of Hangzhou Public Security Bureau received 43,967 applications for Exit-Entry Permits for travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, representing an increase of 89.4% over the same period last year. The bureau also received 11,456 applications for passports, an increase of 74.8% and 6,663 applications for going to Taiwan, an increase of 90.6%.
Summer vacation is a popular time for exit-entry certificates, because many students attend summer camps organized by overseas travel agencies.
The summit this year comes earlier than those of previous years. Many citizens began planning their journies before the start of summer vacation.
Despite enormous pressure, administrators at all levels take effective measures to handle problems, such as adding more staff members, to relieve the added tension.
