A carnival that promises to help participants cool off in summer has been underway since July 17 in Zhejiang province's scenic Grand Tianmu Canyon.
Sponsored by the Tourism Administration of Lin'an city, the six-week scenic festival will be held at the sprawling geologic site renowned for its beauty and ecology.

Tianmu Canyon holds three records on the Great World DSJJNI list - China's equivalent of the Guinness Book of World Records - including the longest river through a volcanic formation and for the longest covered footpath through woodlands.
Many of the carnival activities focus on the river.
"Tourists can feel the happiness of playing in the water," said an official responsible for the carnival. "Swimming in the scenic area is free of charge."
Among the cooling summer activities planned by organizers are a treasure hunt in the water searching for a valuable rare stone, swimming with fish, tug-of-war competitions and "world cup" water volleyball.
Other popular activities include fishing and kayaking.
Holidaymakers who do not want to get wet or sunburned can follow the newly built kilometer-long covered scenic footpath that ranges in altitude from 500 to 800 meters.
Seats for having tea amid the trees along the path are a good place to enjoy the cool, clean air and view surrounding waterfalls.
Other options include a stay at the home of a farmer to experience rural life or camping out and having barbecues.
The summer fest concludes August 31.
