Items confiscated by law enforcement officers have been put up for auction in sale of seized goods in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Nov, 9 as chinanews.com.cn reported.

While many citizens feel lucky to pick up a cheap bargain, others have questioned the authority of the urban administrative and law enforcement bureau collecting money from the goods, with some calling for the money to be donated to those in need.

Hu Lihong, chief of a district team of Hangzhou administrative and law enforcement bureau claims the merchandise was confiscated according to the rules and the 15,359 yuan ($2,315) raised from the 2,560 items will go to local government funds.

Hu Lin from the bureau said the rules state items cannot be donated according to personal suggestion, but the process of dealing with confiscated goods will be improved and they welcome citizens to supervise staff members on duty.

Goods going under the hammer included sweaters, scarves and personal computers, seized from vendors who violated trading rules.
