Tong Guili, Vice Mayor of Hangzhou, met Mr Jan Noether, Chief Representative of the Shanghai Delegation of German Industry & Commerce (DIHK) on March 1, 2011.
DIHK is an influential German chamber of commerce, which plays an active role in promoting foreign trade cooperation.
Tong Guili extended a warm welcome to the guests, stating that Hangzhou has close economic ties with Germany. Germany is Hangzhou’s third largest exporter and the fifth largest importer. Many famous German enterprises have invested in Hangzhou, including Siemens, Bosch and Linde.
She expressed her expectations that DIHK would use its position to build a service platform for business cooperation between Germany and Hangzhou. Meanwhile, numerous local companies are also willing to cooperate with big multinational companies, especially German enterprises, she stated. Mr. Jan Noether said that KDHK will play its role in helping more German companies become involved with the Chinese market, and would assist more Hangzhou companies in doing the same in Germany.
