Longmen Grottoes bags Most Valuable Culture Symbol award

Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan province has been recently elected the most valuable visual symbol of traditional culture in Central Plains.

The awarding ceremony took place in Zhongyuan University of Technology on Nov 20. Altogether, 16 cultural subjects stood out after procedures of online voting and expert review since June.

Longmen Grottoes, the treasure house of ancient Buddhist cave art won the top award – the Most Valuable Culture Symbol. The other award-winners include Shaolin kungfu and Henan opera.

The selection was organized by Zhongyuan University of Technology in view of the Central Plains Economic Zone construction action plan in Henan province, which makes Chinese civilization inheritance and innovation area one of its strategic orientations.
