2009 Two sides across Taiwan Strait Kunshan Agricultural product exhibition was held from Oct 15-18 at the Huaqiao Tiantian International Exhibition Center.

Over 200 enterprises took part in the exhibition, presenting nearly 600 agricultural specialties. Half of them came from Taiwan to show off not only various kinds of fruit, including mangoes, pineapples, mu gua (Chinese quince fruit), jackfruit and Fengshui Pears, but also hundreds of processed agricultural products.

“This Expo promotes Kunshan’s industrial transformation and helps to enhance the cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone than merely displaying agricultural products,” a Kunshan government official said.

The 2009 Two sides across Taiwan Strait Kunshan Agricultural product exhibition covered 6,400 square meters in two exhibition venues – the special Expo area consisting of four classical parts and the standard Expo area set up with 260 booths.

Twenty-two Taiwanese snacks appeared at the Expo, providing a delicious treat for visitors to try. Sixty Kunshan enterprises were in attendance, some of which were Taiwanese companies, such as Uni-President Enterprise Co Ltd, Poli Foods Industry (Kunshan) Co Ltd, and Pinqing Technology (Kunshan) Co Ltd.

Officials at the Expo’s opening ceremony on Oct 15 included Zhang Yuxiang, Ministry of Agriculture Chief Economist and Market and Economic Information Secretary, Yu Yongwei, Director of the Cross-Straits Association of Agricultural Exchanges, Xu Jianming, Vice Secretary of Kunshan Communist Party Commission, and Zhou Yulong, Vice Mayor of Kunshan. Huang Lixin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Vice Governor of Jiangsu province, sent a congratulatory telegram.
