The Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Province Shen Xiaojian visited Huaqiao International Service Business Park to inspect the construction of the cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone in Suzhou, east China’s Zhejiang province, on Nov 23.

“The cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone is an important development program of Jiangsu province.” said Shen Xiaojian, adding that the zone has gained popularity and focus from Taiwan, which created a favorable environment for its development and investment.

Ren Xueyuan, Director of the Managing Committee of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, Huang Jian, Deputy Mayor of Kunshan city, and Shen Huafei, Deputy Director of the Managing Committee of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone delivered a warm welcome to them. Ren also introduced the development processes and bottlenecks for further construction.

During the visit, Shen checked over the industrial layout, functional facilities, living environment and communication. Huaqiao International Service Business Park has developed the Cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone into a modern trade area, which provides purchasing, retailing, plus wholesaling and exposition services for Taiwanese commodities.

The Cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone covers 3.65 sq km and aims to develop into the first platform for commodities from Chinese Taipei to the mainland with five centers.

 The Taiwan Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Province, located in Nanjing, is mainly responsible for coordinating and guiding with the overall planning of the economic and trade related to Taiwan and exchanges and cooperation in such areas as finance, culture, academic research, sports, science and technology, and health with all the departments concerned.
