The first-ever expo on low-carbon issues will open in Huaqiao in May 2012. The event was announced at the Shanghai Expo Low-carbon Technology Application Signing Ceremony on Sept.16.

The expo will be co-hosted by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Jiangsu provincial government and other related departments. It will be held every two years, and will last four days. The Global Low-Carbon Technology Summit will also be held during this expo.

To accomplish the goal of building a low-carbon city, Huaqiao has cooperated with some institutions on low-carbon technology application. Specializing in service outsourcing, headquarter economy, logistics exhibition and commercial services like the “environmental-friendly industry”, Huaqiao has absorbed “Capgemini”, “Genpact” and other companies in business process outsourcing to move their location to Huaqiao.
