Huaqiao plans to open a distributed photovoltaic power generation project in its northern industrial zone to make use of energy resources.

The numerous factories with flat roofs in the region can be used favorably for the project, which is now under application and preparation work.

Distributed photovoltaic power generation, which has higher generating capacity and lower power loss during long-distance transmission, is a promising way to utilize energy resources. The photovoltaic modules can turn sunlight into energy directly and provide electricity to nearby users quickly.

Presently, nearly 100,000 square meters of roofs in the industrial zone are available for the project, which will span 25 years. Every year, the project can create 2 million yuan ($322,000) of income for the enterprises as well as reduce 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and 600 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions.
