Four tourist spots in the Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, including Dongnandong Culture and Creative Industrial Park, Huaqiao Planning Exhibition Center, Tianfu Ecological Park and MIT Boutique Museum of Taiwan Commodity Trading Center, won honors as "Star Tourist Spots" approved by the Kunshan municipal government for the first time at the municipal tourism working conference on April 23. The honors show that Huaqiao’s tourism industry has entered a new stage of development.

The demonstration work of "Star Tourist Spots" began in September 2012. About 22 tourist spots were awarded the title after a series of procedures, including the application of grassroots tourist spots, preliminary examination by tourism authorities, and an assessment by the evaluation committee of the tourist industry. Four tourist spots in Huaqiao won the title, occupying about 20 percent of all tourist spots in Kunshan city.

In the next stage, Huaqiao plans to boost its tourism industry based on various functional platforms, and further integrate the tourist industry with other industries, including trade, exhibition, dining, hotel and entertainment. Attracting visitors and increasing revenue, Huaqiao will drive the modern service industry through tourism industry development.
