Kunshan makes ranking of China’s Top 10 Charming Cities
2014-01-08

Recently, Kunshan made China's Top 10 Charming Cities list ranked by Overseas Chinese Media Cooperation Organization (OCMCO) and Wen Wei Po of Hong Kong.

The selection of China's Top 10 Charming Cities pays attention to a city's cultural influence, the competitiveness of its tourist industry, city images in foreign countries, and natural and cultural charm. Different from previous selections that stress emphasis on economic strength, this selection attaches great importance on the city's comprehensive strength, especially cultural soft power. Kunshan made the list together with Dunhuang of Gansu province, Pu'er of Yunnan province, Wulingyuan of Hunan province, Shuangcheng of Heilongjiang province, Dujiangyan of Sichuan province, Yongjia of Zhejiang province, Changping of Beijing, Pingyao of Shanxi province and Kaiping of Guangdong province.

Li An, Lin Dan, Chen Guangbiao, Xu Jiayin and six other celebrities were selected in a ranking of the Top 10 Outstanding Chinese. Lenovo, XCMG and eight other companies were awarded as Top 10 Outstanding Chinese Enterprises. Lijiang of Yunnan province, Fenghuang of Hunan province, Yangshe of Jiangsu province and seven other towns were selected as China’s Top 10 Charming Towns.

Set up in 2009, OCMCO has attracted 81 Chinese media outlets to join in the ranking and influenced on overseas Chinese communities . The International Chinese Media Award is an annual selection organized by OCMCO. It takes three months to collect public suggestions and is voted on by 81 member media groups.
