Tourism pays off during May Day holiday

Changsha  proved popular with visitors and profitable for the county over the May Day holiday, according to statistics from the tourism bureau.

More than 760,000 people poured into the county from April 29 to May 1, spending 580 million yuan ($84.28 million) along the way.

A smorgasbord of activities and games for the whole family were held over the holiday, acting as a magnet to attract those wanting a rural, family, or red tourism break.

Guoyuan town's inaugural crawfish festival attracted 90,000 people who trawled six tons of crawfish from the waters.

Changsha county also held its first cross-country orienteering competition Xiaowanguo Park in Huanghua town on April 29, which was well attended.
