Wuxi has strengthened efficient treatment and emergency response to Taihu Lake, and maintained its safety in flood seasons for six successive years.

Wuxi has insisted on the priority of livelihood and spent more than 70 percentof its financial budget in livelihood security and protection.
Wuxi has improved an urban-rural unified employment and startup service system, creating 148,000 jobs in urban areas and has seen a registered urban unemployment rate of 2.12%. It was honored as China's Top Entrepreneurial City.
The coverage of urban and rural basic old-age insurance, medical and unemployment insurances have reached 98 percent. Critical illness insurance for urban and rural citizens was completely carried out. The old-age care bed per thousand senior residents has reached 32.
The city started to build 11,992 indemnificatory houses. A total of 4,433 homes are enjoying low-rent housing in urban areas.
The consumer price increased 2.1%. The price level maintained stability.
