On the evening of July 17, the sailboat Qingdao received a warm welcome from thousands of locals in Humber Port, England after returning from a completed 35,000 nautical miles in ten months’voyage for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Qingdao scored 74 and ranked seventh out of ten participating teams during its third expedition. Australia Spirit placed first and Finland and Brittany took second and third place respectively.
During the first five segments of the race, Qingdao, led by British Captain Chris, didn’t perform well and the best record was fifth place. However, five times during the sixth through twelfth segments, Qingdao received performance awards.
This is the sailboat’s third expedition in the Clipper race. In its first two races, Qingdao placed seventh and fourth. It didn’t break a record in the races, but many participating sailors were from Qingdao, which demonstrated that the sailboat had helped to forge a sailing city.
