Qingdao launched eight wireless local area network hot spots offering free Internet service for locals and tourists on May 1. Part of Qingdao's "Wireless City" campaign, the program covers the May Fourth Square, the Train Station, Zhanqiao Pier, Bathing Beaches, Huashilou Building and the Olympic Square. It follows the path tourists generally take along the coast.
