The added value of the cultural industry in Pingdu, the largest county-level city in Shandong province, exceeded 7.01 billion yuan ($1.13 billion) in 2014, 1.16 billion yuan more than 2013, the local statistics bureau said.

Last year, the added value of the cultural industry accounted for 8.3 percent of Pingdu's GDP, rising 0.9 percent over 2013.

The rising share of the industry's added value contributes to the city's economy.

Over the past years, straw weaving and stone carving have stood out. Their development guarantees the crafts industry's growth and pushes forward the cultural industry.
