The first sea-railway integrated cargo train, carrying tons of containers, set off from the Qingdao Port on April 30 to arrive in Yinchuan in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
The newly-established train route will operate between Qingdao Port and Yinchuan railway station to create an effective sea-rail connection and shipping lane as opposed to road and rail shipping.

The sea-railway route is designed to help foster the integrated regional customs clearance practice, which was agreed on by 10 customs houses in nine provinces and autonomous regions along the proposed Silk Road Economic Belt on April 27.
Qingdao and Yinchuan are among the 10 customs houses, which signed up to the agreement.
